Peer Leader Program

At FUN Society we believe strongly in the power of community and peer mentoring.  We have so much to learn from one another, whether young or old.  Learning at FUN Camps flows in all directions - between campers, leaders, Peer leaders, volunteers and guest presenters. Everyone involved gains knowledge and wisdom. 

The Peer Leaders Program is an opportunity for 13-16 year olds to be part of camp while gaining valuable leadership skills. 

This specialized program created just for them allows young leaders to build their resume, meet new friends, act as mentors to the younger campers and lead fun games and activities. They might even choose to invent some!

FUN Leaders highlights

• You receive a FUN Leaders Manual and create goals for the week with the Peer Leader Coordinator
• Throughout the week you work as a team to create an activity or workshop on a topic of your choice. On the last day of camp, you have the opportunity to present this activity to the younger campers. 
• You get to dream up a passion project and develop a plan for how to turn your dream into a reality.  If you want to take it to the next level, but would like some extra support, you can present your idea at our end of summer Gala, and possibly be selected to be part of the FUN Champs program - granting you seed funding for your idea, as well as a FUN mentor who will work with you throughout the year. 
• Get connected to a Pen-Pal in South Africa, who is working on passion projects in their community
• 35 hours of community service experience for your resume
• Spend a week outside, having FUN, and making the world a better place!

We understand that age is often an arbitrary number.  If you have an 11 or 12-year-old who is Peer Leader material and would fit well into this program, please talk with us.  Likewise, if you have a 13 or 14-year-old who would rather just participate as a camper, we can allow for that too.
