The ThandaMandla (LovePower) Trek for Social Change will bring together educators and youth from around the world to spend 7 days hiking South Africa's Wild Coast and dreaming up brilliant plans for social change. Eco-tourism, leadership, empowerment, English, development, flora, fauna, culture, history, theories of change, love, power ... all will be taught along the way, in a multi-directional flow of education between "educators" and "participants".
Co-led by the "Excellent Young Nature Lovers" a group of amazing local youth in an eco-tourism track at their high-school, as well as a team of local and foreign educators and guides, this trek will provide a unique blend of cultures, adventures and landscapes for anyone interested in making this world better.
This trek will begin and end at two of the best eco-lodges in the world - Mtentu River Lodge and Bulungula, giving the adventurous changemakers the chance to explore, paddle, swim, relax and soak up the beauty at one or both ends of the trip. (Hiking will take place between Mtentu and Port St. Johns, followed by driving to Bulungula. The PSJ - Bulungula portion of the trip is optional, and the youth from Baleni will not be on this part of the trip).

What: 7 day hike along South Africa’s Wild Coast
When: May 18th - 25th, 2013
Where: Eastern Cape South Africa (hiking from Mtentu River mouth to Port St. Johns, followed by optional trip by vehicle to Bulungula Lodge further South)

We are seeking engaged, caring and passionate people from any background, from anywhere in the world to join us for this pilot project in May.
